Klean Kanteen - Sippy Stainless Steel Water Bottle 12 oz - Available in Various Colors

... I thought that I was finally going to have a sippy cup for my daughter that wouldn't leak. I was wrong. The vent hole in the Avent sippy nipple drips, even with the valve securely in place, AND when all parts are dry when putting together. I don't know why more people don't have this problem. I even tried using another Avent top (since it comes with 2) but it still leaked. Very disappointing.
On the flip-side, my daughter loved it! Although not being insulated is a bit of a drawback for holding. ...

BioGreen Biodegradable BPA-Free Kids Bottle with Leak Proof DuoFlow Lid with Tether (14-Ounce)

... I bought 4 bottles so that when my family and I were out and about, we would have cold water on hand. I wanted to make sure I had BPA free bottles, but also they had to be small enough that all 4 bottles would fit in my small cooler. It worked. I can fit all 4 water bottles and snacks (2 small apples and gold fish) in my cooler.

The kids also like drinking out of these bottles. However I think I use them more than my kids. We use these bottles everyday, and there is no plastic taste.

Sigg Sport Top for Sigg Water Bottles (Black)

... A great bottle top!

Easily opens and closes with just your thumb. Press down on the top with your lips and you get as much water as you can drink with no bubbling or vacuum problems. It's also super easy to take apart and clean, simply push down and twist to fully disassemble. They've used a lip seal similar to the type used in high pressure applications. No traces of leaks anywhere. It should last forever with normal use. A super value for the money! ...

Contigo 3 Pack of BPA Free Hydration Bottles AutoSeal Technology (Red, Blue, Orange)

... Really, a water bottle just needs to not leak, not leach chemicals, and hold up well over time. These ones definitely do not leak in my bag and don't have BPA. So far they are in great shape after a month or two of use.

There is one key consideration with these bottles. The drinking part - where your mouth touches the bottle - is on the outside. Unlike a Nalgene bottle, the cap does not cover where you mouth touches. This has pros and cons. On the bad side, your "drinking surface" is coming into contact with whatever is in your bag, etc. On the good side, the openness of the drinking surface means that it doesn't get stinky the way a closed bottle does. Not to be too gross, but your spit stays on the outside and dries rather than growing stuff the way it does when covered by a cap. Personally, I like it. I wipe of the mouthpiece when I take it from my bag and have to wash it way less than I used to wash my Nalgenes. ...

M-Wave Plastic Bicycle Bottle Cage

... This waterbottle mount can be used horizontally (as shown in the product picture) on your handlebars, for instance, or used vertically on your seatpost or your frame, etc. It has a small metric hex/allen screw that can be used to change the orientation of the mount. Other than switching orientation, there are no tools needed to mount this waterbottle cage!

The mount comes with ZERO instructions, which isn't cool, but using it is very straightforward and pretty much common sense.

It comes with a tiny black rubber shim that you place between the clamp (touching the bike) and the frame/post of the bike. This keeps the mount from slipping and sliding around.

The mount is bit heavier than it needs to be but it's due to the clamp and quick-release. The actual cage portion of this product is quite light.

The actual waterbottle cage can be unscrewed from the clamp and used, standalone on bikes that already have braze-ons for waterbottle cages.

On the negative side, if you have a skinny waterbottle it can easily fall from the cage. Also, you have to be careful of the angle at which it sits because the waterbottle sitting in the cage can be knocked loose due to hard road vibration or a really hard bump so mounting it underneath your bike, hanging down, isn't advised.

This is a great solution for anyone that doesn't have braze-ons for waterbottles on their bike frame or someone who simply wants to carry extra waterbottles and have them placed anywhere on their bike. ...

Active Bottle Top Water Bottle Accessory - In Your Choice of Colors

... When I first bought my bottle with an active top, I was really disappointed. I assumed that the open position would allow water to move freely, and was annoyed that I had to push really hard to only get a trickle of water. I considered buying the sports top so that I could actually drink a satisfying amount of water while exercising.

Then I figured it out.

Not only do you have to push, but you have to actually suck on the bottle to get the water out. If you suck, as if drinking with a straw, the water will move freely without you having to push much on the cap at all. I guess I was just used to water moving by gravity when a bottle is held up, and it didn't even occur to me to suck on the cap. So for all those complaining about jamming your teeth and lips to only get a trickle of water out..... try sucking like you're using a straw next time. You will get lots of water out and you will not be jamming your teeth! I'm glad I figured it out before wasting my money buying a new cap. Now I have a highly leak-proof cap that's also easy to drink out of once I figured it out. ...

Sigg Sport Top Mud Cap for Sigg Water Bottles

... This product is listed as a "Mud Cap," and I thought it contained the entire top for the Sigg water bottle. It doesn't. Think of the mud cap as a dirt/germ cover to keep the spout you drink from (the Active bottle top) clean.

The Mud top CLIPS on to the HINGE of one type of the bottle tops. The other type of cap has an O-ring part that SLIPS over the top of the bottle, then the spout you drink from screws in over it, and then the cap covers the spout. This is NOT a mud cap, but called something else and seems to get in the way when you're trying to drink from the bottle.
I prefer the mud cap because it flips completely out of the way as you drink, whereas this other O-ring cap flops in your face as you drink. The only consideration: for toddlers: when they drop the Sigg bottle, the Mud cap hinge can break, whereas the floppy O-ring doesn't. For teens and adults; go with the Mud cap. ...

Exstream Purifier Bottle - In Your Choice of Colors

... I travel to India a lot. All those stories about the lack of potable water are true. In fact, that scene in "Slumdog Millionaire" (if you haven't seen it yet, go tonight) where the protagonist is working in a fast-food restaurant and fills an empty water bottle with tap water, and then glues the serrated plastic top - it's all true. The only time I ever got sick there was when I drank an expensive bottle of designer water, obviously faux.

Still, I love India. It's all the better now because I take this purification system with me. It's very easy to use and works well (or at least, I never get sick anymore). Lifesaver Bottle 4000 Ultra Filtration Water Bottle

... I usually don't write reviews, but this product went way beyond my expectations.

At first I was kind of skeptical about it, especially for the price. But at the urging of some friends I finally got one and used it. What I like about it is how simple it is to use. All the other filters I have used are a hassle with the hoses, the extra bottle you filter into and the awkward pumping action all the while trying to keep in from falling into the contaminated water you're drawing from. Then you have to fold everything up, still wet into a pouch and put it into your pack. It's a hassle to me. The Lifesaver avoids all of that.

Just unscrew the bottom of the bottle, fill it with the contaminated water, close it and give it a couple of simple pumps. Instant sterile water. In my opinion, the video and the pictures don't do it justice. You need to try one and it will become crytal clear...like the water it produces!

I have one that I use backpacking and another in my 72-hour kit.

One more thing: every other filter I have used over the years kept pumping water long after the filter was done filtering. The fact that this one stops working when the filter needs replacement is genious. ...

Sigg Lifestyle Water Bottle

... After reading an article about BPA leaching from plastic water bottles, I freaked out and immediately thought that I needed a stainless steel water bottle. If this is also what you are looking for, the ALUMINUM Sigg bottle may not be for you. Aluminum water bottles, like Sigg bottles, use a coating or liner and these liners may or may not contain BPA. I only found this out after I received a Sigg bottle as a gift from my work.

That being said, Sigg does state that their bottles have a "Non-toxic proprietary inner liner resistant to leaching; taste- and scent-neutral." If this sounds okay to you and you like the colors and designs Sigg offers, go right ahead and purchase a Sigg bottle. Since they are made from aluminum, they are surprisingly light weight (I have a one liter model and it feels lighter than my smaller stainless steel Klean Kanteen). But if you have media induced BPA-phobia like I do, get a stainless steel water bottle e.g., Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Colored Water Bottles with Poly Loop Cap. ...

When I opened the packaging everything was intact but the carabiner chain was rusty and was made of very poor materials, I removed it immediately. All in all a secure cap to keep the water in and safe enough to carry in your Crumpler laptop bag.

The stainless steel surface is very good but can can easily get scratched, The chain attached to the screw-in cap had already scratched the bottle surface. Earthlust 32 Oz. Tree Stainless Steel Water Bottle

... The bottle is mega-cool, which is why I bought it instead of just a plain stainless steel bottle. However, the paint peels off no matter how you wash it. The other poor review for this bottle said that the paint was flaking off from dishwashing it, which is no shock because it SAYS not to put it in the dishwasher in the instructions. I have only washed mine according to the instructions and the paint is coming off as well. I also bought the bird one and the same thing is occurring. Moral: If people are going to sell something with something cool painted on it, they should make sure the paint stays on. And they can because, just to let you know, the "Earthlust" logo which is also painted on is NOT coming off at all. Shows where their priorities are. Lifesaver Bottle 6000 Ultra Filtration Water Bottle

... ...instead of Amazon. Didn't know Amazon carried it. This purifier was intended for wilderness trips in the US. Sadly, it did not produce good tasting water as shown in the marketing videos. The water tasted like cheap plastic...even with the activated carbon filter installed. The bottle COULD have been filtering to the 15 nm spec but I had no way to test that. So, it MIGHT have been safe, but tasted awful.

I returned it to the East Coast distributor after a week of putting many of gallons of water through it trying to get rid of the plastic taste. I noticed that in the marketing video I saw, the bottle had yellow pump components. The one I received had black pump components. Am wondering if a new material spec might have produced a change in the taste of the water. However, the dist says no.

The unit was impressively easy to pump and put out water at a pretty good rate. The emphasis on use seemed to be oriented toward using your teeth to pull on the teat to drink. However, it was never my intent to use it that way. I wanted to use it to fill containers. It was less user friendly pulling on the teat with your fingers when the bottle was under pressure after having been pumped. The pressure in the bottle would cause the water to spray out before you could direct it into a suitable container. Alternatively, you can hold it over your container and then pull the teat open. A provision for an output hose that could be used in place of the teat would be nice.

Because of its fully integrated design, certain precautions have to be observed in order to prevent cross contamination. For example, you must develop a discipline of ensuring the cap for the teat is securely snapped in place before submerging the bottle in a source. Failure to do so could possibly contaminate the teat. It would be a good idea to download the User Guide from the Lifsaver Systems website and to familiarize yourself with this bottle before ordering it.

The 6000 version provides more water at a lower cost/liter than the 4000. As a matter of fact, it's total operating costs compared to other filters/purifers is really hard to beat. For you backpackers, I would peg the size of the 6000 at just a little larger than a 1 liter soda bottle. The distributor reports that the activated carbon filter is optional. This could save a good chunk of money in operating costs if you want to forgo the convenience of an integrated filter in favor of trying to fashion your own external ACTIVATED carbon filter at a much greater savings. The activated carbon filter can remove certain organic contaminants an improve taste dramatically. The Lifesaver comes with 1 activated carbon filter that you install prior to using.

The distributor seemed willing to work with me to solve the plastic tasting water. They even contacted the inventor, Michael Pritchard, to see what might be causing the issue. However, communications were slow and my wilderness trips were starting so I didn't have time to work through it. I am told that my bottle will be carefully examined to try to determine the cause of the off taste.

I recommend that this be bought through Amazon with the free shipping. As of this writing, price is the same as through the dist, but you pay $20 for shipping via the dist and you eat the shipping if you have to return it. It might also be a good idea to download the User Guide to familiarize yourself with the bottle prior to ordering it. The guide is available on the Lifesaver Systems web site.

Have spent MANY, MANY hours researching water filtering/purification systems for backpacking. This product showed the most promise for a device that would produce safe water under almost any circumstance you could imagine at a such a reasonable cost with its 15 nm filter. I was crushed at having to return it. I am convinced that this device still shows the most promise save for the experience I had. I am hoping there is a resolution to the plastic tasting water soon.

My fallback will probably be a the top of the line Katadyn Pocket Katadyn Pocket Water Microfilter with 'only' a 200 nm ceramic filter and an external activated carbon filter. This will let viruses through, but viruses are reportedly not an issue in North American wilderness waters, especially if you are choosey about your source.

Had my LifeSaver 6000 produced the bottled water taste as asserted in the marketing videos, I would have given it 5 stars....and kept it! ...

Sigg Trend Line Thermal Water Bottle (1.0-Liters)

... Well built and solid like all Sigg products. If you need a solid well made thermos that will keep things hot or cold for hours this is a good choice. Simple screw top which stays on when you pour. No fancy click tops making it easier to clean and more reliable. Simple o-ring seals the top, could probably replace it if needed. Innate Mega Fresco V2 48oz Stainless Steel Water Bottle

... This is a very well designed product. The manufacturer seems well attuned to practical design details and material choices in view of health concerns. In this case, as far as I can see, they have thought of every possible detail for a perfect bottle.
-Large enough (40oz) to fit 8 cups of liquid.
-Very wide opening (which was my main selling point). Few manufacturers have this feature. It makes for easy cleaning while the diameter and threads of the neck are designed to also fit bottle adaptors for many water filters.
-Food grade 304, 18/8 stainless steel body with no inner coatings. The bottle overall is quite light and about 9.5 inches tall (quite compact for the amount of liquid it can hold).
-The redesigned collar of the V2 version feels smoother while threading/unthreading the lid (compared to the older version)

So, make sure you opt for this newer version of the bottle. The older version (as I have seen them in some outdoors sports outlets) used to have a plastic collar that formed a lip over the metal, but the inside of the lip was not flush and could collect some foreign matter; harder to clean. However this is no longer an issue; the new collar is now seamlessly flush.

Also, I recommend the "Innate Flip Top Lid". It is interchangeable with the built-in lid and very practical for sports (drinking straight from the lid without having to unscrew it)

As far as I can tell, this bottle has no design flaws. I am very happy and wholeheartedly recommend it ! ...
