bought this hoping it would last longer than typical cheaper aluminum bottle cages. used it on my mountain bike for a couple of years. i'm a cross-country rider and ride some bumpy stuff but nothing radical. it broke across the welds that hold the cage to the mounting part.

Katadyn Exstream XR Water Purifier Bottle

I would not recommend this as a primary water supply on a long term hiking trip, but for day hikes and as a secondary water supply, I highly recommend it. It filters out water and lasts plenty long. Also the replacements filters are affordable and easily available at any outdoor store.

I put this in my water bottle puch on my pack and fill it up when i come across a stream or water source and save my pump filter for when i make camp for the night and I'm still alive!

Klean Kanteen Water Bottle Bike Cage for 27-Ounce Bottles

This does exactly what it's supposed to. Installation was a snap with the built-in screws on my bike. The bottle pops in securely and stays put.

It's made of plastic, and the plastic is a little thin, so I'm a little worried about long-term durability, but so far so good.

From the picture I thought the front was solid, so I wasn't sure how the bottle would go in, but the "arms" don't meet, so they open as you shove the bottle in.

Sigg Baby Water Bottle (0.3-Liters)

They are super cute, and I was looking for an alternative to plastic, but they haven't worked out as well as the Klean Kanteen kid sippy cups.

My problems with them are #1, they easy dent or crack when thrown (i have two toddler boys) and #2, they are not easy for babies or toddlers to open since the have a difficult sports cap.

The Contigo water bottles are a great product. They encourage water drinking by easy access. They have auto-seal, which is helpful with a baby in the house and when you're on the go. Also helpful at work because if spill, they won't drench a laptop or keyboard. Overall, I am very happy and would recommend to anyone. I like the pink/green/grey colors. Lastly, they go in the dishwasher very easily.

Sigg Hot & Cool Water Bottle (17-Ounces, Blue)

If you are considering buying a "regular" Sigg bottle, then you should really look into buying the insulated version. They are great for keeping water cold all day, even if it sits in a hot car all day! I have had the Chinese made versions, and they are great too, but the Sigg is definitely better made, with much heavier steel. The only thing I like better about the Chinese ones is the lid only requires a couple of twists to tighten, but the Sigg has finer threads and takes many more twists to tighten the lid.

NALGENE Tritan OTG BPA-Free Water Bottle 24 Oz

For purpose of this review, I will ignore the issue of whether the poly bottles leach harmful chemicals. Of major importance is the fact that these bottles do not leach disgusting plastic taste into the water or other beverage. I rode 100 miles on Sunday, and the water (refilled once) still tasted like water. The bottle with electrolyte added still tasted like root beer. And the root beer taste rinsed right out when I washed the bottles at home. The tip back cap lets you get a decent amount of liquid very quickly, without the effort of a squeeze bottle. (Turn it sideways to avoid hitting your nose). Stays put in the bottle cages.

My family has used Klean Kanteens for years - taken them to work, school, and hiking. They don't leak and can stand up to being dropped. The mouth is large enough to fill the bottle with ice, and the water stays cool through hours of hiking (even in very hot climates). Condensation will appear on the outside, but that's to be expected. Hard to improve on this. They are the best.

I really liked the fact that this water bottle was so environmentally friendly. However it only lasted 4 months. My son dropped it on the ground and the top broke off. CamelBak Podium 21-Ounce Bottle

I bought these bottles on Camelbak's advertised claim that they didn't leak on your bike frame and found that that was true. The bottles don't leak even when ridden over rough roads in the "unlocked" position. But they have a more serious problem: Mold grows inside the nipple and can't be rinsed or soaked away with a chlorine or vinegar solution, making the bottles useless. I would not recommend purchasing until Camelbak provides a solution to removing the mold.

CamelBak 0.75 Liter Insulated Bottle Carrier

This insulator just doesn't keep my liquids cool for as long as I expected it should. It might be I have too high expectations, given that it is just neoprene and not all that thick but my drinks seem to warm up just about as fast as if I had no sleeve at all.

The little clear plastic plugs fell out within the first week. One is lost forever. Without these little plugs, the bottles leak all over through that hole. Very disappointed!

Sigg Traveler Classic Water Bottle (0.6-Liters)

I like this bottle a lot--it's the right size for me, keeps liquids cold for longer than the nalgene bottles and is convenient to carry. It's small opening means that it is not as easy to fill and the screw top is more difficult to open than competitor styles. But, all in all, I think the Sigg bottles are the best on the market.

I like that the bottle is BPA free, and the cap is secure. It holds a lot of liquid as well. I'm not as crazy about the wide mouth, but it does make it easier to clean. Doesn't fit in a lot of cup holders either.

NALGENE Tritan Wide Mouth BPA-Free Water Bottle

This bottle is a trooper. I've had it almost a year and I've put it through some rough stuff. It's taken a beating but is still holding together fabulously. I was worried that I would break the loop that keeps the lid attached but that is tougher than it looks and shows no sign of breaking. It's reusable, BPA-free, and I love the color--what's not to like? Even the milliliters markings on the outside are durable--they've had their share of abuse but are still legible. I suspect I'll be using this until someone discovers something toxic about Tritan plastic...
My only caution about this bottle is that it did take about 8 thorough hand-washes before I got rid of the nasty plastic after-taste that is present in all new water bottles. Also if I leave water in it for more than about 24 hours it'll start to taste faintly plastic-y. But that's the case with any water bottle no matter which plastic it's made from.
